Where We Stand: A short Update

We’re often asked when earthfilter will finally launch. The short answer: We’re closer than we were a few months ago—a realistic launch date will be April or May 2027. Here’s what we’re working on right now.

Ceramic filter from Kenya: final adjustments before mass production

During our pilot production in Kenya, we found that the upper part of the ceramic filter was subject to larger manufacturing tolerances than we originally assumed. Not a dealbreaker, but exactly the kind of detail you want to resolve before scaling up, not after.

That's why we're currently producing and testing new tooling for this part. Once the validation phase is complete, mass production can begin. In parallel, we're optimizing the entire production process so that deviations like this don't reappear down the line.

The glass container: five prototype rounds and a lot of patience

For the glass container of our water dispenser, we've been working closely with a second production partner for months. What we've learned along the way: a development process like this is both time- and cost-intensive — far more than you'd expect from the outside.

We've now completed the fifth prototype round. Every round brings us closer to the quality we expect from a product that's meant to sit in your kitchen for years. We could take shortcuts and move faster — but that's not the standard we hold ourselves to.

Certification for the European market

For earthfilter to be sold in Europe, it needs the right certification. We're already in contact with an appropriate certification body and working through the necessary steps together. It's one of the less visible pieces of the puzzle, but it has to be in place before launch.

Packaging: sustainable and sturdy at the same time

We're also putting the finishing touches on our packaging. It's already been thoroughly tested, but we're still refining the details. The requirement: the packaging has to be environmentally friendly — and sturdy enough that your filter survives shipping undamaged. Getting both right at once is harder than it sounds, but it matters to us.
